Sojourners in the Wilderness

Posted by: Angela

This was the theme of the women's retreat I went on with my church this past weekend. On Friday evening when Seth got home from school I drove to the campground that is on Black Creek. Our campsite was composed of treehouses, a bathhouse and a common room with a kitchen. We had about 14 women on the retreat ranging in ages from 20s-70s. It was such a good time of fellowship and bible study. On Friday night we studied God's word and then ate a yummy meal. Jami, our church nature lady, had a CD that she played with owl calls and before we knew it there were two above us in the trees. It was soooo awesome! Apparrantly, owls are territorial and will make "monkey calls" when they are warning another owl to get out of their area. If you click here you can hear them. We were even able to see them flying above us and perched in the trees. After that we sang hymns and ate smores. Our treehouses only had screen walls so it was wonderful being able to fall asleep to the sounds of God's creation. The owls kept calling periodically throughout the night. The next morning we ate breakfast and had another bible study session and then packed up to leave. I was home by lunch. It was a short yet fulfilling trip. Seth also enjoyed his time with the kids. I have misplaced my camera, so here is a link to the pics taken by a fellow camper.
